About Lisa Martin
My background in music, opera and musical theatre is extensive.
At 12 years of age I began receiving classical tuition with an emphasis on folk songs and quickly achieved all the musical grades.
After studying drama at Redroofs Theate School, I went on to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where I was tutored by Professors Adrian Thompson and Teresa Cahill.
At the Guildhall, I learned all aspects of vocal performance and as part of the classical training I was even taught how to sing above a 25 piece orchestra without a microphone!
Since completing my classical tuition, I have performed in a wide variety of classical concerts, opera and operetta, musicals ranging from Carmen to Eliza Doolittle as well as cabaret and popular covers.
This breadth and variety of experience has given me a solid practical knowledge of the demands required for a vocalist whatever their chosen area of expertise.
I have been chosen for a total of seventy four leading roles in amateur dramatic and semi professional productions as well as pantomimes.
My classical training, combined with experience on stage and in many studios has given me great expertise in guiding budding vocalists, both professional and hobbyists, to find and shape their voice.
My stage experience can also help more experienced vocalists to improve their technique and prepare for auditions and roles, or simply to better explore all aspects of their voice.
Please note that I also have a current CRB certificate and I am based in Maidenhead in Berkshire.
